The Burnt Corn, Alabama Homecoming Reunion was held in Burnt Corn, Alabama
on August 5 - 7, 2005. The event was very successful using the
theme "Returning to Our Roots." This reunion has been going on for several
years and attendance for this year's reunion was down from previous years.
However, the committee
invites all people associcated with Burnt Corn in any manner, plan to attend
the next Burnt Corn Community Reunion set for August 2007.
On Friday, August 5, 2005 at 7:00pm attendees of this year's reunion met at the Monroeville
Community House in Monroeville, Alabama for registration and to meet and greet.
Ms. Denise Ware gave the greetings. All attending Families were introduced followed
by good food and fellowship.
A Fashion and Talent show were put on for entertainment. The event ended with
everyone joining in and singing the Burnt Corn, Alabama Homecoming Theme song.
On Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 2:00pm the group met at the Burnt Corn Fire House
Grounds for an afternoon Picnic. Ms. Sharon Rankins gave the greetings.
The afternoon was filled with fun, games, and other activities. The group
meet later at 9:00pm at the Monroeville Community House for more fellowship
and entertainment.
On Sunday, August 7, 2005, the group meet at the Bethany Baptist Church for worship
service. The First Sunday in August begins the annual revival for Bethany Baptist
Church in Burnt Corn like it has been doing since 1872 over a 133 years ago.
Rev. John O. Malone is pastor
and has been for more than 40 years. Rev. Eric T. Andrews, Pastor of Antioch Baptist
Church #3 in Monroeville, Alabama was the guest minister that delivered the sermon.
Sister Lucile Dukes
was the Master of Ceremony. Trophies were given to the attendee that had traveled
the longest distance to attend the reunion. Mr. ??????? traveled from Las Angeles, CA
and earned this trophy. Mrs. Hettie Watson was given a trophy for being the oldest
member in attendance. There was also a trophy for the youngest member in attendance.
After the church service some the world's best southern cooking was served.

Financial Secretary, Lucile Dukes, Treasurer, Sharon Rankins, Assistant Treasurer,
Irma Cunningham, Chaplin, and DeLois Daily, Assistant Chaplin.
The reunion attendees would like to thank the following committees and committee members

Thomas Earl Broughton, Elizabeth Richardson, Irma Cunningham, and DeLois Dailey.
The Officers and members of the Burnt Corn, Alabama Homecoming Reunion invites
everyone that once lived or lives in or near the Burnt Corn area to schedule
your plans to
attend the next reunion to be held in August of 2007. Hold your personal
family reunion at the same time to coinicide
with Burnt Corn, Alabama Homecoming Reunion. The objective of the reunion is to
bring everybody back home at the same time for a few days and re-live the good
ole days of growing up in Burnt Corn, Alabama. In order to reach as many
people as we can, we need your help to spread the word about this reunion
to your friends,
playmates, and classmate in order that everyone knows about this reunion.
Information
about the reunion will be posted here on Burnt Corn website. Be proud to come
from Burnt Corn, Alabama and actively promote that you are from Burnt Corn
because you actually lived in one of America's most historic piece
of real estate and Burnt Corn has a legacy in America's history.
This reunion was purposely designed to lead into to Bethany Baptist Church Revival.
If one can remember back in the day, the Bethany Baptist Church annual revival
was the single event
in Burnt Corn where others that had moved away would come back to visit on the
First Sunday in August. Over the years that traditional was beginning to fade,
and
in an effort to re-capture the essence of that moment the Burnt Corn, Alabama
Homecoming Reunion was born. We need your help and support to keep it alive.
